Apple, denied injunction against Samsung (in the U.S.), girds for ITC decision next week

Last week U.S. District Court judge Lucy Koh rejected Apple’s request for a preliminary injunction to halt sales of Samsung’s Galaxy Tab 10.1 and some Samsung Android smartphones in the U.S., stating, among other things, “it is not clear that an injunction on Samsung’s accused devices would prevent Apple from being irreparably harmed.”

One of the pieces of intelligence that came from this ruling is news that, contrary to previous reports and available intelligence, Apple has licensed patent #7,469,381 (a scrolling patent) to Nokia and IBM, and offered Samsung a license in November 2010.

In related news, December 14 is now the date set by the ITC for its ruling on the patent complaint brought by Apple against rival HTC.
