What developments in 2011 most affected university technology transfer?

Melba Kurman writes in Innovation Excellence her list of the top five events that affected university technology transfer in 2011.  Top on her list, and most others, is AIA, the America Invents Act. According to her research, universities are typically late to file for patents and slow to use the provisional patent tool, each a behavior that now needs changing.

Her list continues with Stanford v. Roche; pharma’s inchoate investment in Chinese research labs; data that the ranks of entrepreneurship are gender and racially biased; and Cornell’s “victory” over Stanford in the race to tech-develop New York City’s Roosevelt Island.
